About Jakub Stopl
A Czech analyst working on demography, political economy, and the forces reshaping European politics.
Jakub Stopl came to demographic analysis from economic policy. At the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade, his portfolio covered the Czech Republic's economic relations with China and Taiwan, including support for bilateral negotiations between Prague and two of Asia's most consequential economies.
The work convinced him that the forces that decide political and economic outcomes move on generational timescales, and that demography is the most underweighted variable in mainstream analysis.
He holds a law degree from Masaryk University in Brno and has written for the international daily Statement.
Since 2022 he has published independent analysis of demographic change. His various works and video essays have drawn an audience of specialists and in the mainstream. He has also written under the pen name Kaiser Bauch. He lives in Prague and works in Czech and English.
